Working for you: Jobs

Over the summer, I have had the opportunity to talk to many
people throughout our community. So many families share the same concerns: greater
job opportunity, an education system second to none, and keeping the cost of
fuel down at the pump.

Over the summer, I have had the opportunity to talk to many
people throughout our community. So many families share the same concerns: greater
job opportunity, an education system second to none, and keeping the cost of
fuel down at the pump.

Seeing as these issues are continually being brought to my
attention, I would like to touch on each one individually over the course of
the next week. My hope for this blog is that I hear feedback from each of you.
After all, I am running to represent YOU, and the best way for me to do that,
is to hear what your concerns, thoughts and ideas are. So, please, help make
this a discussion.

The one issue that seems to come up more than any other
issue is jobs. For that reason, I thought it’d be fitting to start off with
that topic.

There is no doubt about it, as families and individuals we
must have jobs in order to sustain ourselves. In our community, we are lucky
enough to have a great resource at our fingertips: Purdue! With that being
said, families are still aching to have better-paying jobs in order to make
ends meet.

While I believe that we need to work to see that Purdue and
its resources continue to expand so that our students walk away better prepared
to compete in the workforce, I also believe that we need to create other means
of job opportunities for our community.

We have an intelligent and hardworking workforce right here
in our own backyard; their skills and talents should be showcased to bring more
businesses into our community. That is exactly what I plan to do as your State
Representative.

Our community deserves a leader who will work with current
city and state leaders, will approach businesses on investing in this part of
the state and who will fight for new jobs. That is just what I intend do.

As a lifelong resident of this area, I am passionate about
this district, and believe that we can offer more to businesses than any other
part of the state. Now, we just need to see that to fruition. I can speak
confidently when I say that I will not rest until every person who needs and
wants a job finds a place to move their families and careers forward.
